The course «Advanced Training for Liquefied Gas Tanker Cargo Operations» is aimed at an in-depth study of the specifics of operations with liquefied gases. This course is also known as «Liquefied Gas Tanker Cargo Operations — Advanced Level (GASCO, ATLGTCO)» and is designed to prepare for the safe and efficient handling of cargo operations on liquefied gas tankers. The course covers all aspects of working with liquefied gases, from their physical and chemical properties to loading and unloading operations, emergency management, and environmental protection.
The main goals of the course include providing knowledge about the design and equipment of liquefied gas tankers, training in basic cargo operations, including preparation for loading and unloading, pressure and temperature management, risk identification and assessment methods, and accident prevention procedures. The course also covers international and national environmental standards, emergency management training, including gas leaks and fires, and providing the knowledge and skills for documentation and reporting.
This course provides comprehensive training for maritime professionals necessary for the safe and efficient operation of liquefied gas tankers, in accordance with international standards and STCW requirements.
STCW Standards: Convention, Section V/1-2, Paragraphs 3, 4, Code, Section A-V/1-2, Paragraph 2.
This section introduces attendees to the main concepts of the course, international and national regulations, as well as key terms and definitions necessary for understanding subsequent topics.
Study of various types of liquefied gas tankers, their design, as well as cargo management systems and equipment used on such vessels.
This section is dedicated to studying the physical and chemical properties of liquefied gases, their behavior under various conditions, and the hazards associated with their transportation and storage.
Cargo operations on liquefied gas tankers include preparation for loading and unloading, managing pressure and temperature in tanks, and procedures for managing gas formation and evaporation.
This section is dedicated to methods for identifying and assessing risks, accident and incident prevention procedures, and safety systems and equipment.
Study of international and national environmental protection standards, pollution prevention procedures, and spill control and response measures.
Overview of codes and conventions, such as the IGC Code, SOLAS, MARPOL, as well as certification and inspection requirements for liquefied gas tankers.
This section covers management and leadership skills necessary for the effective execution of cargo operations on liquefied gas tankers, including crew organization and safety compliance.
This section is dedicated to preparing for and managing emergency situations, including actions during gas leaks, fires, and other emergencies on liquefied gas tankers.
This section covers first aid procedures and crew health protection when working with hazardous cargoes on liquefied gas tankers.
This section is dedicated to the requirements for maintaining documentation and reporting on cargo operations on liquefied gas tankers, as well as compliance with international and national standards.
Practical sessions include simulations of cargo operations, use of equipment and safety systems, and emergency procedure drills.
Course instructors have a high level of qualification and experience that meets the international requirements of the STCW Code. They have higher maritime education, significant experience working on sea vessels, including liquefied gas tankers, and experience working in training centers. All instructors have completed specialized courses in advanced training for liquefied gas tanker operations, ensuring a high level of instruction at the advanced level.
This course complies with the international standards of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and is regulated by the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW):
STCW (Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping for Seafarers) — The International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping for Seafarers, developed by IMO to ensure maritime safety and prevent marine pollution.
Theoretical classes are conducted in classrooms equipped with training aids and demonstration materials. The course uses the Liquid Cargo Handling Simulator. This high-tech simulator allows simulating loading, unloading, and handling processes of various types of cargoes, including gases, providing deep understanding and practical experience. The simulator also allows conducting emergency situation drills, developing skills for quick and effective response to emergencies on board. Trainees can practice complex and specific scenarios characteristic of the advanced course level.
