The course "Basic Training for Liquified Gas Tanker Cargo Operations", also known as "Liquefied Gas Tanker Cargo Operations — Basic Level (LGTCO)", is designed to train tanker crews in the fundamentals of safe cargo operations. The course covers the physical and chemical properties of cargoes, safety culture, safe work procedures and methods, emergency response actions, and marine environmental pollution prevention. Participants will gain theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary for effective and safe cargo operations on tankers using the specialized Liquid Cargo Handling Simulator.
STCW Standards: Convention, section V/1-2, paragraphs 1, 2, Code, section A-V/1-2, paragraph 1, Code, section B-V/1-2.
Course instructors possess high levels of qualification and experience, meeting international requirements of the amended STCW Code. Instructors have higher maritime education and significant experience working on sea-going vessels, including tankers; they have experience working in training centers; and have completed specialized courses for operations on liquefied gas tankers.
This course meets the international standards of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and is regulated by the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW):
STCW (Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping for Seafarers) — International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping for Seafarers.
Theoretical classes are conducted in classrooms equipped with educational materials and demonstration tools. The course uses the Liquid Cargo Handling Simulator, a high-tech platform for training maritime specialists working with liquid cargoes. The simulator allows for the modeling of loading, unloading, and handling processes for various types of cargoes, including gases. Trainees can manage cargo operations in conditions as close to real as possible, ensuring deep understanding and practical experience. The simulator also allows for emergency situation training, helping to develop skills for rapid and effective response to various emergencies on board.
