The course "Advanced Training for Oil Tanker Cargo Operations", also known as "Advanced Training for Oil Tanker Cargo Operations," is designed to prepare seafarers working on oil tankers for the safe and efficient execution of cargo operations. The course covers key aspects of working with oil cargoes, including legal and regulatory requirements, tanker construction and systems, physical and chemical properties of oil, the use of pumps and measuring instruments, as well as safety measures and emergency procedures. Special attention is paid to practical exercises on simulators that allow skills to be practiced in conditions as close to real as possible. The course aims to enhance participants' qualifications and provide them with the competencies to perform their duties at a high level.

Issuing certificates

Certificate of qualified specialist.

Level of instructor-teachers

The course instructors have a high level of qualification and experience, meeting the international requirements of the amended STCW Code. They have higher maritime education, significant experience working on sea vessels, including tankers, and experience in training centers. All instructors have undergone specialized courses in preparation for oil tanker operations.

Compliance with international conventions

This course complies with the international standards of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and is regulated by the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW):

  • Convention, Section V/1-1, Paragraphs 3, 4.
  • Code, Section A-V/1-1, Paragraph 2.

Explanation of Standards

STCW (Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping for Seafarers) — The International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping for Seafarers, developed by the IMO to ensure safety at sea and prevent marine pollution.

  • Convention, Section V/1-1: Includes rules regarding the requirements for the training and certification of oil tanker crew.
    • Paragraph 3: requires that all persons directly responsible for the loading, unloading, and care of cargoes on oil tankers undergo appropriate training and certification.
    • Paragraph 4: sets additional training and certification requirements concerning safety and pollution prevention.
  • Code, Section A-V/1-1: Contains mandatory minimum requirements for the competence of oil tanker crew.
    • Paragraph 2: Describes the minimum standards of competence for persons directly responsible for the loading, unloading, and care of cargoes on oil tankers. It includes requirements for knowledge and understanding of safety procedures, pollution prevention, and cargo operations.

These standards aim to ensure proper training and certification of oil tanker crew, as well as establish safety measures and procedures necessary for the safe operation of oil tankers and prevention of marine pollution.

Material and technical support of the course

Theoretical classes are conducted in classrooms equipped with teaching aids and demonstration materials. The course uses the Liquid Cargo Handling Simulator. This high-tech simulator allows for the simulation of loading, unloading, and handling processes of various types of liquid cargoes, including oil, providing deep understanding and practical experience. The simulator also allows for emergency situation training, developing skills for quick and effective response to emergencies on board.
