This is a mandatory basic training course for all seafarers working on sea-going vessels. The program provides fundamental knowledge and skills essential for personal safety and survival on board.
The course is developed in accordance with the requirements of:
The STCW-78 Convention as amended, taking into account Resolution MSC.560(108). The course program includes a mandatory module on the prevention of violence, harassment, bullying, and SASH (Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment).
Regulation VI/1 and Section A-VI/1 of the STCW Code.

The main focus is on practical competencies: survival techniques, fire safety, first aid, and adaptation to the shipboard environment. This is fundamental training, without which employment on any sea-going vessel is impossible.

- • How to properly wear life jackets and use rescue equipment;
- • How to recognise alarm signals, emergency symbols and safety signs on board;
- • Apply fire prevention measures and basic firefighting methods;
- • Use fire extinguishers and firefighting equipment;
- • Provide basic first aid in the event of accidents or injuries on board;
- • Locate assembly points, escape routes and embarkation stations on the ship;
- • Understand the personal responsibility and social duties of a crew member;
- • Respond to emergency situations: man overboard, fire, abandon ship signal.
The course consists of 18 training modules divided into 4 thematic blocks. The format includes video lessons, presentations and additional teaching materials. The training can be accessed from a computer, smartphone or tablet.
Upon completion of the programme, participants take a final test to confirm the competencies they have acquired.
Successful completion of the course entitles participants to receive an international certificate, ‘Safety Familiarisation, Basic Training and Instruction for All Seafarers,’ which is mandatory for employment on any seagoing vessel and is valid for 5 years.
