Able Seafarer (Deck) Training Course

Must be able to: stand navigation watch while the ship is underway and at the gangway while at berth according to the ship's schedule.

Participate in: hull maintenance work (including work at height, overboard and in enclosed spaces); preparation of cargo devices and spaces for cargo operations; cargo and stores handling; mooring operations; anchoring operations; opening and closing cargo holds with mechanized hatch covers; rigging cargo devices; inspection and repair of rigging; measuring water level in tanks, bilges, tanks; operation of main valve drives on decks; maintenance of navigation, anchor and signal lights of the vessel; inspection of fire-fighting, emergency and rescue equipment; setting up lead lines and measuring depth with hand lead; technical maintenance and repair on the vessel; rigging, sail, painting and other shipboard work; ensuring cleanliness and order in the wheelhouse and chart room; ensuring security of the vessel and cargo; prevention of marine environment pollution.

Manage launching and hoisting of lifeboats, duty boats and work boats, rafts, operate lifeboats under oars, under sails, with motor, with manual mechanical drive and with engine.
