The online course “Ship Waiter, 4th Category” is designed for those who dream of serving cruise ship passengers at the highest level. Within two months, you will master the profession of a waiter in a unique format: interactive lectures and seminars, video conferences with experienced instructors, and laboratory and practical classes on the AVANT training ship. The program is approved by the Director of the Department of Education and Science of the Odessa Regional State Administration and meets the requirements of the Handbook of Qualification Characteristics of Workers' Professions (“Water Transport”, issue 67). To enter, you must have a complete secondary education, a confirmed qualification of a third-category waiter, at least one year of work experience in the profession, be over 18 years old, and meet the medical requirements for working on water transport.
You will master all stages of passenger and crew service: preparing the hall for receiving guests, carrying out preliminary and complex table setting, taking and processing orders, delivering food and drinks with a demonstration of final operations in front of the guest. You will learn to communicate with passengers in at least two foreign languages, give professional recommendations on dishes and drinks, issue invoices, pay guests in cash and non-cash, and correctly hand over the proceeds at the end of the shift. Special emphasis is placed on serving special events — from weddings to conferences — in compliance with all cruise service standards, as well as on emergency response skills and working with professional equipment. During your internship on the SEVASTOPOL ship, you will apply your knowledge in real conditions and pass a mock interview with a representative of a crewing company.
Upon successful completion of the training, you will receive a Certificate of Attribution (Upgrade) of State Standard Working Qualifications of a Ship's Waiter, 4th Category. The document is issued in accordance with the State Standard of Vocational Education, meets the requirements of the International Convention and is entered into the Unified State Electronic Database on Education (UEDEBO). This certificate opens official access to employment on cruise ships around the world.
