Course Description
Leadership and Teamwork is designed to develop the practical leadership, communication and teamwork skills required for the safe and efficient performance of shipboard operations.
The course is delivered in accordance with the requirements of the STCW Convention, Tables A-II/1, A-III/1 and A-III/6, and the IMO Model Course 1.39. It focuses on the human element, effective communication, resource management, risk assessment and the promotion of a strong safety culture on board.
During the training, participants develop the knowledge and practical skills required to organize the work of a ship's crew, lead multicultural teams, manage workloads, make sound operational decisions and respond effectively in both routine and emergency situations.
Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be able to:
- apply leadership principles in the organization of shipboard operations;
- work effectively within a multicultural crew;
- assign responsibilities and coordinate teamwork efficiently;
- use professional communication techniques during shipboard operations;
- recognize and minimize the effects of the human element, fatigue and stress on operational safety;

Certification
Upon completion of the course, participants must successfully pass the final assessment, which includes a theoretical examination and practical competency evaluation conducted in accordance with the requirements of the STCW Convention and IMO Model Course 3.12.
Successful participants are awarded a Certificate of Proficiency.
