About the Course
Docking a Ship is designed for masters, chief engineers, deck and engine officers, and other shipboard personnel involved in planning, supervising and participating in dry-docking operations. The course provides the knowledge required to prepare a vessel for docking, coordinate repair activities and ensure safe execution of all docking stages.
The programme covers dry-docking preparation, documentation, communication with the shipyard, dry dock personnel and classification society surveyors, stability considerations, hull support arrangements, repair planning, safety management and post-repair verification before the vessel returns to service.
Special emphasis is placed on risk management, safe working practices, inspection of underwater structures, propeller and rudder systems, sea valves, hull maintenance and effective coordination between the ship's crew and repair contractors throughout the docking period.
